While not positively identified, I believe I contracted HSV1 on my genitals 2 years ago. During my initital outbreak, which only lasted a couple days, I had some extreme intching and tingling around my mouth/lips but never an outbreak. After two years the genital outbreaks are infrequent and never really result in open sores. Redness, cut-type feeling, and itching. Things go away in a couple days.
9-10 days ago I had an outbreak on my face. Derm says it is a primary HSV1 outbreak. If correct, it took 2 years to happen. Anyway, the outbreak was not a lot of little vesticles that turned into one big sore. More like 8-10 different pimples that formed within 2-3 days around my mouth areas. All were swollen pimples with some sort of oil/whitehead and they have after 10 days they are still clearing up. They have acted in everyway shape and form like pimples. While I got on 1G of Valtrex 3 times a day within 8 hrs of the outbreak, I am on day 9 and things are getting better. I feel like the Valtrex didn't do much given the dosage I was taking. Things are healing much more like bad acne that is finally drying up. Does this sound like coldsores? What are others experience with the traits of coldsores? Do they appear like a pimple and act like a pimple or do they act completely different? Thanks.
