I have made an appointment with my doctor, as i am worried about my persistant symptoms which point to the direction of being carpal tunnel syndrome.CTS runs on my mothers side geneticaly and a large majority of my family have had the surgery..I am 17 and was fine a few months ago, however bad pins and needles and terrible soreness has persisted in my fingers and wrists for around a month now.The problem starts as soon as i wake, till the end of the day.It feels like extremely painful pins and needles. My fingers feel swollen and constantly numb.My wrists are so sore, and this tingling travels up through my arms.Sharp burning sensations ripple through my fingers, mainly my first two fingers on my left hand.I have dropped quite a few things in general everyday life, such as a mug this afternoon and am finding even hard to type this.
Now this seems as if this pain has come on so suddenly, therefore can it be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?? The pain is annoying me to high heaven and the restriction on normal duties is annoying me greatly.Im restless in my sleep because of the pain.Im also very artistic and study fine art at college.I dont want this problem to affect my college course or everyday life.
If anyone has any input into my query, please reply.Thanks.Holly.

Holly, this sounds like my experience with CTS. Luckily I met with my neurologist early enough to catch it. I didn't need surgery and I used the braces until it went away. I still have problems from time to time now that I'm pregnant.

Does the pain that travels up your arm sometimes there when the rest of the pain is not? Just curious as Iam having pain in my arms as well as hands and fingers wrists and elbow. Just wondering if carpul can travel this far up? Im being treated in physical therepy for shoulder pain/rotater cuff problems. However Im wondering if I don't have a combo of things going on. It seems to be happening in my other arm as well and the main thing that irritates it all is typing.
