I had a root canal six months ago and it never felt right. The dentist just said it failed and he needs to do another one. It will be ANOTHER $660.00!
I've been reading up on the internet and it seems that if it fails this soon it either wasn't sealed up properly or he missed a canal. Most dentists seem to say that if it fails within 12 months, the re-treatment should be free of charge.
What do you all think?

I honestly have never heard of a dentist or any dental office stating that if a root canal fails in the first 12 months that the retreatment would be or should be free. The reason that the root canal failed could be because a number of things and unless you can actually prove that it is solely the fault of the dentist and the job he did and not from the lack of dental care on your behalf prior to the root canal I would just suck it up and pay the money.
I hope that your tooth and mouth feel better real soon, keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

I've had 2 root canals fail and both times my dentist did retreatments for free. I don't remember the time frame for the first retreatment but the second one was more than 12 months after the original root canal. I don't know how common it is for dentists to do retreatments for free.
