Even though I live in AZ, where it's still in the 100's here, people at work are getting sick. Every morning, i lysol wipe my keyboard, phone, headset and i wash my hands after touching anything. my hands are soooo dry and sore from washing, but if i accidently touch a doorknob or whatever i just have to wash.

if i wash my hands, if my co-workers don't actually cough directly on me or sneeze directly on me or even touch me...what are the odds i'll catch their illness?

i go on vacation in literally 17 days and for me, if i do get sick, it will last for weeks. i don't heal overnight. however, i have been trying to get at least 8 hours of sleep a night, which most nights, i am able to do and i do drink about 64oz of water a day, if not more.

i realize, im paranoid, i just don't want to be sick while on vacation or in general. but i just want i guess some calm by knowing, what are the odds that if my co-workers are sick, i will be sick too?

Hi There, Sounds like you are taking all the right preventative measures to keep yourself healthy. There isnt much you can do about the airborn germs that are created when people cough and sneeze.

I would recommend that you continue with the good handwashing, disinfecting your work area, always wash your hands before touching your nose or mouth,(as your nose and mouth are the entrance's for the germs to get in and infect you) continue with getting enough sleep, drinking plenty of water, and i would also be taking a multi-vitamin as well as supplemental vitamin C.

One last thing, you could also buy a bottle of Saline Nasal Spray. Use this a couple of times a day, as it has NO MEDICINE IN IT and is harmless, however, studies have shown that when using this on a regular basis it had decreased the incidence of catching cold's and the flu. As airborn germs will enter the nose and get caught in the hair follicles, with the inside of your nose being warm, moist and dark it is the perfect breeding ground for these germs. By using the Saline Nasal Spray it cuts down the risk of infection as it washes the germs out of the nasal cavity.

Good luck and i hope this info helps,

Well unless you put yourself inside a bubble you're going to get sick. I also am a compulsive hand washer, which is actually a good thing. I won't touch knobs or faucets in public restrooms and everyone putting on their makeup in the mirror looks at me like Im a freak running around with all these paper towels. I could care less because those faucets, bathroom stall handles and the knobs are just loaded with microscopic bacteria.

So, you're safe with the handwashing, BUT there are still virus droplets floating in mid air, and that is where you Might have problems. You might want to make sure your eating, sleeping, and taking your daily viatmin supplement.

Don't worry about getting sick, because that is when it when happen. It always seems to happen to me that way, but I'm lucky to be in good health right now, even if I'm almosty 230 lbs. I always got sicker in my skinner days simply because I wasn't eating properly, but at least my bod was half way decent.

As for you getting sick I don't think you will as long as you take good care of yourself!
