Reading this board..wow..some sx sound so familiar. I get acid reflux now and again, but didnt think it was anything to think about as far as other sx go. Here are the sx I am speaking of:
Sometimes get a sharp, stabbing pain right under the rib cage..usually on left side..sometimes this pain will be right under my left breast
Fullness in chest and throat
Tightness in throat, like I cant swallow..but I can
Acid in my throat when I bend over, especially afte taking fish oil
I also have significant anxiety so I never know what is anxiety related and what could be something else. I did by Gas X with Maalox (new chewable tablets) and they seem to help, but worry about taking them everyday.
Does this sound like GERD? Any other sx to look for? Can this hurt me or can I put up with it with OTCs?

Sounds like it to me, i have similar symptoms, but DON'T diagnose yourself. The acid coming up your esophagus can have long term effects. Go to the doctor and let him/her give u a proper diagnoses.
Other symptoms I have sometimes are: Diarrhea, Cough (especially at night), BAD anxiety, and my stomach seems to get VERY loud ..haha, partially because eating feels like a chore. But I'm on Pariet right now..it seems to be working out all right so far, although may have to go on something stronger, and more long term...I would go see the doctor to help control your symptoms and repair any damage that's been done. Please take care

Symptoms sound as if they COULD be reflux, but I would have an endoscopy performed to see what's happening. I had a 'tight' feeling in my breastbone area, pain in my stomach, naseau, sweating, etc. Been diagnosed as having a small hiatal hernia, reflux and gastritis, and am on Nexium 40 mg, once a day, 45 minutes before breakfast. I am also maintaining a very low-fat diet.
Best of luck, and I sure do hope you feel better soon!

Hi Lori,
Do you get the pain in your stomach at night after you've been laying in bed for a while? Also, do you get nauseous in the morning after getting up?
Thanks.

No, my discomfort/pain seems to directly come from eating something that does not agree with me, but since changing my diet to little to no fat, and taking Nexium, I feel much better!
When I am hungry, I do get a "sour" type feeling in my stomach and know it's time to eat something and drink some water. Must be the acid building up. I immediately feel better after I eat.

I have all that, but what bothers me most is as soon as I wake up every morning, before I even get out of bed, I have this empty feeling smack dab in the center of my chest - it's like I can't even wake up without a reminder of what the day has in store. Does anyone else experience that.
