My top molar (the smaller one near the front of my mouth), broke in half today. I had a big filling down the middle of this tooth and then today the inside side of the tooth broke off. It hurts when I drink something cold or eat something sweet. I am going to get a consultation with a dentist tommorow. What do you think is going to happen? Do you think I will need a root canal and then a crown? Will I need a crown no matter what? Do dentists ever just make a filling that is 90% of the tooth?
UGH. I can't believe I have to deal with this....

It depends on the state of the tooth if they need to crown it you have to have a root treatment if she can still build it up with fillings and there is no infection then that is what they will do

Thanks so much for the info! I'm off to the dentist right now. I hope that is the case!

Well, it looks like I need a root canal.....not only on that tooth...but basically every tooth in my head. I am in deep depression over this. My teeth are so rotten that not much can be done to save them... :(
