I currently take 400mg of dilantin daily for a seizure disorder. However, I am seeking advise on what anti-depressents can be taken with dilantin without adverse reactions for what is essentially dysthemia. My research shows many anti-depressents increase the risk of seizures. My doctor has recommended LUVOX but I think that is one of them. I hate to second guess him but I guess I am.

Up until recently I used to take 300mg of Dilantin daily and 10mg of Lexapro and have been seizure free for years... I am now on 20mg of Lexapro, same dilantin dosage. So far so good. The only AD I know for a fact to avoid is Wellbutrin.

Good luck.

I was on antidepressants for about 4 years. 2 years on Paxil. 2 years on Celexa. Same seritonin reuptake inhibitor class as Lexapro, I believe.
No seizure activity. (But I quit smoking and went back to school for my Master's Degree while on Paxil.) I was more concerned that I would have a seizure when I weaned myself off Celexa (Under my Doc's supervision.) However, all went well.
Goo Luck! (Buona Fortuna!)
