:bouncing: I get road rage. I don't know why but the worst of me comes out when I'm driving. I'm an idiot!!!!
I'm keeping a log of when I get angry so I can figure out what my triggers are.
Most of my triggers get triggered when I'm in my car driving. Why is this? Everything gets on my nerves: Red lights are too long, every slow person in the universe has a habit at one time or another of being in front of me, people stop and have conversations from their car to someone on the sidewalk in the middle of the road,etc...
I find I'm more likely to spaz when I'm hungry. I have to start stocking my car with food. Maybe that will help.

I get road rage BAD. I drive a company vehicle which is a lurching, bouncing diesel truck in traffic jams to and from work every day. I have no tolerance for it at all.
I think the reason the road bothers me so much is that it is tedious, while at the same time dangerous, so I'm forced to keep my attention fixed on other drivers, and forced to stay kinda keyed up in order not to hit or get hit. The thing is, I have all kinds of worries and other concerns racing through my mind all the time, so it's hard to concentrate on the tedium of moving through traffic, dealing with lights, people with annoying habits on the road, and basic human stupidity (I still believe that the fact that the average person can't negotiate a four way stop sign without getting into trouble is proof that the human race is doomed to extinction).
IOW, with all the anger I have under the surface, and the worries that I'm trying to cope with, the last thing I need is all the annoying and anxiety invoking distractions that come about on the road.

I get road rage almost every morning. I have to get on the highway ever morning with those huge tractor trailors, which I think are rude and obnoxious. Blood pressure skyrockets!
However, I can calm myself down. I tell myself it's my own fault. I remind myself that if I got my butt out of the house earlier, I wouldn't have to be worrying about being late for work. I tell myself that the poor slob in front of me is just doing his/her daily routine and doesn't know I'm late and SHOULD move out of MY way. Then I continue telling myself I have no control over others on the road, so what will be, will be. I still slip and swear at a few but atleast I won't kill myself or someone else. Hope it helps

If I did that, I would probably make myself angrier. Blaming myself for my anger usually makes it worse.

I think it's about realizing this is a problem, owning it, and then changing the behavior.
Thank you! Absolutely...This is true with all reasons of anger. Take the responsiblity of realizing it's you, not the other person. It's the only way I've been able to grow to be a better person.

Many people can make you angry. In the end though its still you and your response that determines how angry you will get. Anger has become such an automatic response to me at times. Now I try to slow down and think for a min or two instead of automatically getting angry over something. Plus what is the point of getting angry? Do you actually accomplish something when you get angry?
