Wow. I can't belleive that someone else is going through what I am.
It's has been over 2 1/2 years and no one can figure out what it is.
I've been through different tests and still nothing.

It started in my hand and fingers and started up my right arm(I'm right handed). it was almost imossible right from the onset to even open a twist open milk jug. Opening jam, and cans with a canopener was almost never possible.

The pain has started to go down my left arm from the top. The webbing on my right hand has remained "puffy" since the begining. I have started to loose motor skills in my hands and I cannot stir a pot, fry hamberger, brush my teeth without pain, and holding silverware and writing have been difficult.

Does this sound anything like what is happening to you?

I have had that feeling in my hands and arms up to my neck. Once I could not use my arms and hands at all without pain, even to bathe it hurt. I was told I had tendinitis, then carpal tunnel, I just found out it is related to my neck the c4-c5,c5-c6. I am going for surgery in november. sounds like you may have the same thing.

Cindy: If it's just on 1 arm (elbow to hand), most likely tendenitis. Sometimes
you'll see swelling just below elbow on forearm. Some call it bursitis. It's a
fatty pad over tendon that gets over-worked & 1 day you can't hold the
comb or a cup. It can shoot quick pain to fingers depending on nerves that
get pinched. Go to pharmacy & get an elbow brace like tennis folks use. The
tight elastic keeps the pad from moving & less use of strength will allow to
heal. Once U have it, can come/go like arthritis. Quick fix for pain anywhere
is water frozen in papercup. Keep ready in freezer & just peel dwn paper &
run up/dwn forearm. Any GP can dx quick. Why a Neuroogist? Carpal tunnel
can be helped w/ a wrist-rest mouse-pad or purchase a good wrist brace w/
velcro adjust. A simple cortisone injection by your Dr. can be a quick fix too.
If no shoulder/neck pain, you may spend lots just to be told to change the
way U use arm. If those are involved, then get your Dr. to order a Cervical-
Spine MRI. I have both problems. I altered use of my rt-arm to using my
left more. I have bulges at C3 to C7 causing sudden pain from spine thru
shoulder & dwn to hand. Had EMG test to confirm I have a fancy condition
called cervical-radiculopathy (pinched neck nerves). I used ph-bks to raise
my computer, flat or no pillow, & home-traction. Surgery is always last
resort. Scar tissue forms & can pinch nerves off yrs. later. Always get copies
from any Imaging-tests so U can compare results from 1 yr to another. I'm
retired from working back-ofc w/ MD's. Many times they refer too quick on things that they can do or order. Saves U from ofc-hopping & $. Gd-luck!

Look into the possibility of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. I had surgery for it and it was immediate relief. I had arm pain whenever I raised my arm even a little. It got so bad that I could hardly feed myself. It turned out that the nerve and blood vessel were both being impinged against my collarbone by muscle in my shoulder whenever I used the arm, and THAT was the cause of my pain. Surgery entailed just a little cutting away away of the muscle involved and that was that. No serious thing and I was so relieved after all those years of pain. Please look into this, okay? :)

I too believe that it could be tendenitis...I have that in my right hand/wrist...I can't brush my teeth right, wash my face correctly with that hand, open twist off caps...or life large or heavy objects that I normally could lift with my right hand.

I took ibuprofen..iced it and gave it a break...it comes and goes...is better right now..I also have a 10 1/2 month old bay that I lug around all day...which I know contributies to it, and so does the computer.

Also sounds like to could be carpal tunnel syndrome...pretty much has the same symptoms..burning, tingling, or itching numbness in the palm of the hand and the fingers...this occurs when the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand, becomes pressed or squeezed at the wrist. Decreased grip strength may make it difficult to form a fist, grasp small objects, or perform other manual tasks.
