Can Kaposi's Sarcoma be the first symptom of AIDS?
I have these purple/blister looking things on the knuckle of my toes that just turned up. They don't hurt nor do I feel pain to the touch. I've been feeling really run down now for about 3 weeks and all of a sudden this turns up.

I recently had blood drawn for diabetes, thyroid , cholestrol and liver testing and everything came out fine. I've never had any night sweats, diarrhea or weight loss. In fact I weigh about 275 lbs. Am I just being paranoid?

OK - CHILL - KS is not a 'symptom' of aids - yes it DOES occur in late stage HIV patients and aids sufferers, but by the time someone has KS - they will have a massive constellation of other symptoms too. Also, there are MANY dermatological conditions which look like KS, which are far more likely. Also... The condition you describe, if you look on google image search........ doesn't really sound as severe as KS!!!

So, STOP WORRYING

Dear passageo: UK really is correct...you do need to chill out for a while. Are you HIV +? DO you think you are? Have you been tested? Obviously, you think you may have engaged in some behaviors that would lead you to question you status. But,KS, is really symptomtic for old Jewish men living in the MEdetteranean and many AIDS patients to not contract KS. If you're really worried then get tested! If you're positive, then let's talk further. chris

pasageo,

If you have never been tested for HIV and you are sexually active, have the test now; there's no conceivable reason to NOT know one's status.

Yes, absent any blood tests, a KS lesion can often be the first distinctive symptom of AIDS.
