View Full Version : Filling Came Out Exposing Nerve Tissue

I haven't really taken as good care of my teeth until 2.5 years ago I'm now 17. When I was 13 I had a series of fillings on my front upper teeth. Those fillings have come out over the years and now with this latest one I think I'm in a bit of trouble. I was brushing my teeth and I see a piece of tooth in the sink.

So I continue brushing and rinse to see what damage I knew just ocurred. To my surprise I see no black where that piece of tooth just came from. Instead I see some plaque build up and right in the middle, what looks to be nerve tissue. I touch it and man do I feel something immediately.

My question is will I now be requiring just another filling, or another routine root canal? Just a quick note; there was no inflammation at all before this took place. Thanks for all your help its greatly appreciated. Also should there be anything special I should be doing to prevent infection?
