View Full Version : Appearance of extraction site?

I had my rear molar pulled on wednesday and from what I can see (I'm quite obsessive about this) there is still a clot in but it appears to be shrinking deeper into my gum line and has a white film over most of it. I'm still a little achy but imtermittently and alot of that, I believe, may be the fact that I'm terrified of having a dry socket and focusing on it. I haven't taken any pain meds since yesterday morning other than a couple of motrin and it really isn't bad at all. Just curious if all this is normal? When can I stop worrying about dry socket issues. I've eaten next to nothing since the extraction. Finally managed a little soup and pudding last night but I don't want to disturb the clot. This lukewarm coffe really stinks! When can I have hot coffee again? Thanks

Hi
Yep seems completley normal....I was told the dry socket about 7-10 days and after that you should be fine....each dentist is different:) I was allowed hot stuff so not sure about the warm coffee bit but yes that'd be yucky!!! lol
No straws or sucking/slurping, so try to drink one sided or tilt your head a bit:)

Good luck:)

Thanks, I'm in a panic state about this and getting myself all worked up. I would have rather have had a root canal but couldn't afford that and my sons dental visit as well. Thanks again

Dont worry:) Dealing with dental stuff is never fun:)
Stress hinders proper body healing, take a deap breath you'll be ok:)
Take care, let us know how the rest of the week goes for ya:)
