9 days ago i woke up to find my little finger on my left hand had gone numb, the numbness has got stronger and has spread to my ring finger and down the side of my palm. Now my fingers have got quite stiff and i am not able to grip or use my hand properly. I also have a sensitive area at my elbow. I am 19, i box and lift weights quite often. My doctor said i had a trapped nerve, any help would be appreciated.

I had an EMG and was diagnosed with pronator teres syndrome which is a pinched median nerve in my forearm. My hand and wrist are swollen and I can't write or type. Do you have any of these symptoms?

There is no swelling, just numbness, stiffness in my hand and sensitvity in my elbow. When i went to the doc she said that she thought it was a trapped nerve and that is all, she gave me no advice or told me anything further on what to do. So i searched the net and saw that my symptoms are similar to ulnar tunnel syndrome.

I'm surprised you weren't sent for some testing. I have an ulnar nerve problem, am contemplating surgery actually. I was sent immediately for nerve testing to find out what was going on and to rule out other possibilities. I have numbness in my pinky/ring fingers while sleeping mostly, while driving and other tasks. The sleeping is the biggest issue for me - because it keeps me awake all night long, repositioning myself to get rid of the numb feeling, hence, why I'm thinking about surgery. After all, how long can one go without a good nights' sleep?
