Ok, for the last few months, I've been gaining about one pound per week...now my eating habits were never good, but i havent changed that and am certainly not consuming an extra 3500 calories per week (which it would take to gain 1lb per week), what could be the problem?? Could it be hormonal?? It just seems to me like this is a ridiculous amount of weight to gain each week.
Thanks.
SP.
PS. If it helps any, I'm 5'8", did weigh 140 but has gone up in these last couple months one pound per week..now in the 150s...
Thanks.

just a guess, but are you using soy products? milkshakes, etc?
I knew someone who was, and they make you gain obscene amounts of weight, more than if you ate thousands and thousands of calories.
If you are using soy, try stopping and see if it helps.

Weight gain is the most popular problem with people who have hypothyroidism. Do you have any of the following symptons: cold intolerance, cramps in legs, sensitive to light, hair loss, tired all the time, difficulty concentrating? Just to name a few. If you do you should check with your doc about getting your thyroid tested. They probrably won't test it on weight gain alone.

hmmm....I'm pretty low on energy, but that is the only one of those other symptoms I had...and no, i dont eat soy products....my diet has not changed at all in these recent months....im going to start weight training again today (something ive done in the past), but i still find it weird that i can gain this kind of weight so quickly..

I turned 30 last year and have had the same problem. I also wonder if it is hormonal. I have made an appt with the gyn to ask him. How old are you?
