Hello everyone,
I have Agoraphobia with history of panic attacks, and have dealt with this for a little over 10 years.. the problem with this is I think that I am having panic attacks because of some symptoms I am having that are associated with OCD.
I have been having repetitative thoughts.. if I hear a song, then it plays in my head over and over kind of like a broken record. Its to the point that sometimes it repeats that I cannot sleep bec of it. I am trying to tell myself to stop or to think something else, but I end up having a panic attack sometimes bec of it. Another one is that I have to have things perfect.. if I am writing something and I make a mistake I will rip up the page and start over, I don't like using wite-out. If I am cooking supper and something doesn't turn out I get really upset.
When I was little, I was saved by my preacher over 7 times because I thought that I wasn't saved. Everytime I heard a sound that was like trumpets I thought it was the second coming of christ and I would hurry and get my bible and begin praying. Was this the start of OCD?
Now that I am older, I find myself sometimes checking things...I check on my parents constantly to make sure that they are still breathing at night. I do this about 5 or 6 times and don't feel ok unless I do.
I am going to see my psychiatrist tommorow to see what he thinks, but I need someone who knows what I am going through right now. Can a person have multiple obsessions but have compulsions for some of them and not the others?
Thanks all
Fae

Hi,
I have those repetitive things in my head, and they frighten me, too. Yes, they can make me panic, and yes, you can have all sorts of combinations of obsessions and compulsions.
I also have panic disorder with agoraphobia. Sad to say, we usually have a combination of disorders.
I hope you find help w/your doc.

agoraphobia panic attacks and OCD are all classed as anxiety disorders and often happen together
meds can help but its important to learn new ways of relaxing and calming yourself
whatever relaxes the body also relaxes the mind
