View Full Version : Questions- feeling poor

I used to eat a lot (about 3000 calories a day, but I'm only 7 lbs. overweight), and I was constantly hungry. Suddenly in the beggining of June I wasn't hungry at all, and I ate a lot less (from 1000-1500 calories). I mainly eat fruits, vegeetables, dairy, and grains. Ever since then I've been feeling poorly and I've been drinking less water. I used to drink only water and about a gallon a day, but now I also drink milk and only 5-6 cups of water a day.
My question is why do I feel poor? Is my body just getting used to my new diet, or do I need to eat more?
Any advice would be useful- Thanks.

do you eat any meats or proteins of sorts? that is one thing that my doctors have gotten after me for...with the lack of protein in the diet you can start to drag...also what are your social habits...have you changed those? it could be the weathter too...something i have had to deal with year after year. when the summer starts i always struggle through the end of may and til about mid june. just a reccommendation, go out and excercise, even if it is just a walk around the office to wake you up...or even just talk to your doctors nurse, she can normally inquire and give oyu an idea of what to do without the price or hassle of an appointment...hope this helps

I did a quick search for you on loss of appetite and came up with this:

If you really have lost your appetitive for more than three days and you're feeling sluggish you might need to go in for a quick check up. They'll ask you about your diet, exercise, stress and take blood tests.

Change in eating can certainly have an impact. I notice the lack of protein, too, as mentioned above. You also mention two foods that get me feeling sluggish - milk (not other dairy products, though, except too much hard cheese) and grains.

Why did you change your diet so suddenly? It sounds like you're not getting enough protein. You need to have a better balance, cutting one food group entirely is not healthy.

Hello, Don't forget about the lack of 'B' vitamins. Not enough B12 or B6 can cause tiredness too. You might want to add a multi-vitamin to your diet or ask the doctor for one of those prescribed super-vitamins. Also, make sure you're getting lots of DARK leafy green vegies...that's were the iron is.
