I have five children. I would like to lose another 15-20 lbs. I've been feeling really down lately because the last 5 lbs that I've lost had taken 5 weeks to come off. Of course the first 18 ls came off in about two months. What am I doing wrong? I feel like I've changed so much as far as taking care of myself - when that negative thinking kicks in, I say to muself, 'All this to lose only half a pound or a pound in a week? It's not enough!'
I'll be honest and tell you what I eat.
Two times a week - egg beaters and half a wheat bagel with jelly - 1-4 oz. orange juice.
Other five days - at work I eat a nutrigrain muffin bar - 4 fat grams - 160 calories.
Lunch - 6'' low fat sub from subway - 4 days a week. other three days I eat fish and green beans.
Supper - Healthy Choice meal, or Lean Quisine, or Smart Ones - 6 grams of fat or less, with a large salad, olives - fat free crutons, good deasons dressing.
Evening treat - fat free sourdough pretzels, whips yogurt, kellogs dry cereal with dried strawberries, fat free fudgesicle, or (once a week) low fat popcorn.
I've been doing this for 13 weeks. In the first 2 months, it seemed to have worked. The lsat five weeks have been a total disappointment. I'm ready to give up.
I need some advice as to what I can do to lose 1-2 pounds a week.
By the way, coffee with non-dairy creamer and 1/4tps sugar is what I have every morning, and I drink water constantly.

your mom is doing the diet right. with the fact that it took 5 weeks to lose 5 lbs is healthy. on average when losing weight it is known that one to two pounds is the average to lose in a week. any more than that is not right. just be patient with it.

also i would get away from the frozen dinners...make fresh meals and freeze them yourself. this saves you from those additives. just my opinion

Hello, She's doing a good job; however, she is consuming a lot of sodium. She might want to do what the previous poster has suggested to lower the sodium intake. Also, her body might be "getting used to the excersize routine" and she might have to up the intensity or change what kind of exercise she is doing. Example: day 1 - walk, day 2 - bicycle, day 3 - aerobic video, then alternate the workouts.

Hmmm...daily calorie total sounds awfully low to me. Is it less than 1000? I would think that 1200-1500 would be better for weight loss, esp. in the long term. 1000 may less than your resting metabolic rate, and your body may therefore be in "starvation mode." Perhaps your body has now trained itself to survive on less and is holding onto every calorie?
I'd try upping calories.
