I am so depressed with my weight. I am 25 years old and I weigh 310 lbs. I am 5'6" tall. I have been diagnosed with depression, COPD, metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, diabetes type II, and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol- even though it is 166, my dr told me it is high for me). Anyway, I am so worried that I am never going to lose this weight. Around 2001, I weighed 395 but lost weight and went down to 265, but I ended up gaining back 50 pounds. I don't want to gain back all this weight and end up in the hospital again. I am so sick of worrying about this. Most of my weight is in my stomach, and it bothers me every day...I've even thought of cutting it off, but I think that would be too painful. Is there any advice any of you can give me? I don't binge eat or anything, but my portions are way out of control and so are my eating times since I work night shift and go to school. Is there any advice out there for me?

Start with some simple exercises each day, start out with just little things you can do like a small short walk around you neighbour hood block or something shorter if you live on a large block. Gradually increase the distance and the pace you walk at and one day try slow jogging for maybe the last half of your trip. Combine this with regular healthy eating, this means ABSOLUTELY NO junk food, not even a potato chip, i know this is hard to do but just think of the end reward you ARE going to achieve one day shortly. If you think 1 bag of chips isn't going to hurt and no one will know about it then you are only cheating yourself, so it's not worth it, is it.
Life can throw us some challenges, but hang in there. There's no need to have negative thoughts, take each day as it comes and think of it as a small step towards your positive future. You'll get there, don't be jealous of others because they may have things that you wish you had, heck for all you know they could be wishing they had some of the great things you have in your life. A good way to keep positive is find something (not eating junk food! :nono: haha) you get alot of enjoyment and pleasure out of and do it as often as you can. If you can find an exercise that gives you enjoyment and pleasure than you are shooting two birds with one stone really. Always keep your head up! after all, life is great!

i disagree with part of what planbee said....i think by trying to restrict any food COMPLETELY you are setting yourself up for failure...saying she should never, ever have even a single potato chip is too drastic...i say try to LIMIT your junk...if you were having 3 donuts per day in the past, for example, cut it down to 1 or 2...that way you are still getting something and not just hanging on by your fingernails as you try to avoid all food you are used to..
