I am a 58 year old male. About a month ago I went to the ER for severe chest pain. My Serum CPK was at 360. An Angiogram was done and no heart disease was found. Upon my release the CPK had fallen to 310. Just the other day I had it retaken and it was 410. My primary doc says this is nothing to worry about. I do know that elevated CPK can be a sign of muscle damage. I guess my question is should I be worried. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi, My husband went through something similar back in January. However he was treated for a heart attack with clot busters etc. After an angio was done it showed no heart disease. Long story with alot more to it but you can read it if you wish by clicking on my name you will see all the posts
Anyway.....back to the CPK it is not exclusive to heart muscle , if you had shoveled snow or played a hard game of tennis etc it can be raised from levels of Cpk in even your chest wall. Now from what I understand the Tropinin enzyme if it is high it is exclusive to heart muscle and this is why they thought my husband was having a heart attack as he had both CPK and Trop enzymes in his blood as well as a ST elevation on his ECG. To this day we are still wondering what the heck happened?? So I believe from what I have learnt....that you can have raised CPK without it being heart related but related to other muscles that have worked hard recently.
Hope this helps
