I lost my baby at 18 wks. I delivered it at home and started to hemorrage. They immediately took me to OR and did a DC. I lost a lot of blood. I was given a transfusion and now I have severe anemia. It has been almost three weeks and I still get shakey and have some palpatations. I cannot believe how tired I am. It is exhausting just to get out of bed. I am better this week than last, but I was wondering just how long it takes to get over. My Doctor said on Friday that I was doing well, and this is normal. My blood work should be in tomorow. Its scarey and I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this. I am grieving for my baby as well.

Just wanted to saw I'm really sorry for your loss. I've got three kids and as much as they drive me insane I'm grateful for them even on their worst days.
As for the anemia it'll take weeks to months to recover providing your body has what it needs to replace what you lost. It sounds like they gave you some blood but maybe not enough to replace your stores in full. Eat well and take whatever supplements you were prescribed. Are you still taking your prenatal vitamins? They should help. You'll want your body as healthy as possible should you wish to attempt another pregnancy.
Best of Luck to you!

Sherri - I am so sorry for the loss of your baby. I can only imagine how hard it has to be to deal with a loss and have this horrible thing called Anemia.
I too have Anemia and at this point the only cause we know is from my c section I just had and gallbladder surgery to follow.
Has your Dr put you on Iron pills? You may want to check on that because it seems to help. I have heard that within two months you should be back to normal. But Im not a Dr and Im not sure of this.
I hope that you are getting better.
Keep us posted
Taylor
