 Hey. Haven't been here in a while.
It's been a month and two days since I quit. I cheated once. I had one cigarette on my second day of work of my new job. I felt really bad though and haven't touched one since. Overall I'm doing ok. Cravings have stopped, I'm tasting stuff better, but oddly, I'm still winded easily when I go for a run. My respiratory endurance is the same as when I smoked. What can I do to improve it?
I gained about 5 pounds, but I've lost about 3 now that school has started and I began my waitressing job.
I think the best part is the money I'm saving. With gas prices as high as they are and all the college expenses I have to take care of, I'm saving a good amount of money.
Take care everyone! Stay strong!

Hi Sara...
Congratulations...you too are doing so great there! :bouncing: And good going, going right back to your quit, even tho you had that one cig! For SO many people, one cig, and that's it!!.... they don't quit again for years!! (That was me, many, many times!)
As for your endurance...give it time... your lungs need time to heal, but it will improve! Just keep up the exercise, good diet, vitamins, etc., and most of all--JUST DO NOT SMOKE!!! :nono:
BTW, how did you quit...with nicotine replacement, or did ya go "cold turkey?"
Yes, that's a good way to look at it...saving the money can help pay for the more IMPORTANT things in life, like GAS, and COLLEGE. Way to go...you have a great attitude about quitting..you have to in order to really quit!!!

Congrats!!
It must feel good to you....keep it up. I am at almost 60 days and I can take really deep breaths. I tried running around the Rose Bowl, I lasted longer than I would have two months ago!! Yippee for us! I am finally starting to get used to it! You will too.

Thanks guys!
Deda, I quit cold turkey. No patch no gum. Just dum dums :)
Luci- the rose bowl? Impressive! I barely manage one straight lap around a track. I have to alternate between jogging and walking to get my two miles in.
Ah well... eventually. I was never a very good runner anyway.
Cheers!

Hi Sara--Wow, cold turkey, huh? You're tough, girl! :nono: Dum Dums...that's funny, I just had one of those the other day, when I was playing in the casino...hadn't had one in years!! What ever works, more power to you! :) And I think it's great that you run/walk...even if it's "only" 2 miles a day...it's SOMETHING!!! I usually walk 2 miles a day on my treadmill, but went on vacation for 2 weeks, and you know how that goes?...need to get started again tomorrow! Vacation makes one get a little lazy!
luci--congrats to you too...60 days is not too shabby! Keep it up girl!
Great job, both of you! :)
