My five-year old has been getting migraines about once every two months for about a year. We recently took him to a neurologist, who didn't find anything unusual but recommended an MRI. We're doing the MRI next week. He had another migraine late yesterday and woke up this morning with a headache and slight fever (his third fever since July). Has anyone ever heard of a fever accompanying a migraine (it's only 99.5 so I'm not sure if it even qualifies as a true fever). What worries me is that frequent fevers and headaches can be a sign of something more serious. My wife is taking him to the doctor today. Thanks.

Just checking back to see how everything went with your son.
My daughter started having migraines when she was 3 or 4.. Hers were accompanied by vomiting. She never had fevers with them, but seems as tho' the little ones always have fevers off and on! She had a CAT scan and MRI that came out well. She is now 12 and still suffers from migraines.
I empathize. It's difficult to watch a child as young as your son suffer with a migraine. Please keep us updated!

My younger sister suffered from terrible headaches and migranes for a long time. Come to find out, the food that she was eating was causing her headaches. Everytime she had pasta or a little chocolate, she would get a headache. So I would suggest checking that out. Maybe keep a journal of what your child eats every day and see if any of the foods they eat is causing the migranes.

I suffered from migraines at a very young age also. I still have them and I am 19 years old. I guess the best bet is to take him to whatever doctors can help him. There may be medication that is now safe for children that suffer from migraines. In the 80's all they said was to give me tylanol. Probably the same protocol nowadays. Good luck.
