Well, today I had some Forteo aggravation. I have the package delivered to my office and as soon as I lifted it, I knew I was in trouble. I was lighter than it usually is and I knew there had to be only one cool pack in there. Sure enough, when I went home and opened it at lunchtime, there was only one cool pack and it wasn't cool. Completely defrosted and barely above room temperature. Yesterday and today hit 90 degrees here in NYC, so finding one defrosted cool pack didn't give me much confidence in the Forteo in this pen.

I called the pharmacy and they said someone would call me back. About twenty minutes later, I got a call. They spoke to Lilly and said it "should be all right." Hey, for $600 and a month's worth of medication that I'm hoping will help my osteoporosis, "should be all right" wasn't good enough. :nono:

They offered to exchange it and I agreed. I didn't want to wait for tomorrow, so I took the subway to the pharmacy and made the exchange.

What a pain. Next time I order, I wil have to remind the person I deal with to put in at least two cool packs.

What a hassle but I think you did the right thing by exchanging the pen. I wouldn't feel comfortable using the medication if the ice packs were all the way defrosted. Was it shipped overnight mail to you?

Yes, it was U.P.S. but supposedly went out the day before delivery to me. My feeling was that this specialty pharmacy had never sent it to me this way before, so I was completely uncomfortable with the room temperature "cool" pack. In the past, I've at least had the cool packs still slushy or even frozen solid.
