If you are looking to lose weight...try staying away from carbs. Eat a healthy salad, and some meat. Try to only eat 1-3 carbs a day (1 carb = 1 slice of bread). If you want to snack, stick with chips and salsa. Yes, chips are carbs, but you are also getting delicious low fat salsa. Another weight-loss tip is to stop drinking soda. You would be surprised! I lost 5 pounds alone from that. Mainly, keep your meals balanced. Don't starve yourself...if your hungry eat. If you are a very athletic person...you may need to consume more carbs.

That's a pretty wide open question, stephielou. Give us some idea what you like to eat and what you think is gross.

Yes, that is a big, general question.

Healthy is a subjective term. What is good for one may be bad for another. So, the suggestion to restrict carbs is not a good one. Fruits and vegetables are carbs and you don't want to restrict those.

Many of us believe that the best diet is one that is largely unprocessed. Things like rolled oats, rice, beans, and fresh fruits & vegetables should make up the majority of your food choices. Meat, poultry, seafood, and dairy are optional if you include a wide variety of other foods. I choose to eat from all food groups, but that is a personal decision each of us must make.

Avoid highly processed things like white bread, most cold cereals, soft drinks, cookies, etc. Fast food is obviously a bad choice... you never know *what* is in your burger or pizza.

Hope that helps...

i don't agree with staying away from carbs. carbs provide energy and nutrition. having said that, there is a difference between good carbs and bad carbs. eating chips is a bad carb (provides empty calories and tons of salt) vs. eating a piece of fruit or whole wheat bread(fiber, vitamins).
