Hi, I want to ask those on neurotin if this medication only takes the pain away or does it also take all the tingling away also. My pm doctor just started me on it because he wants to see if my leg pain is nerve related. The neurotin is helping with the pain but the tingling is still driving me crazy. I don't know if maybe I haven't increased my dosage enough yet or if it doesn't take the the tingling away.. He wants me to gradually increase it and only take the amount needed for relief.
Thanks,
Tirzah

I was also prescribed neurotin. From what I was told I understood that it was going to temporarily make any pain from nerves better...like a pain killer for the nerves..however I do have a lot of numbness in my legs and he did not say it would affect that at all....sorry that probably doesn't help, but it is all I know!

I took neurontin 600mg / day for almost 4 mo.
I neves was told It was a painkiller (I took Percocet for pain) but that it was to prevent nerve damage.
Get well soon

I've been takine neurontin for about 4 weeks. I've found it helps with pain and somewhat controls my tingling but not completely. Sometimes the tingling (while never painful per se) is still really intense. Hang in there

I have been on neurontin for 4 months, the doctor has had to increase the dosage to 600mg 3 times a day. at times the nerve pain is still there and the pins and needles is still there but not as bad, I also take the percocet for the pain but before the neurontin I was in so much pain I was thinking of ending it because I couldn't take the pain anymore. now I can take what i have, if only I didn't wake up in the middle of the night needing to take my percocet. I wish it was a long acting pain med. I hope that I don't have to live my life on all these meds.

You must be carefull with the Percocet. Besides creating dependancy it could damage your stomach.
I was taking 750mm of percocet at one given moment and after my surgery I quit taking them and use to wake up very anxious, swetting.I had to take lower dosage (even not having pain because of surgery;I was pain free the day after) until my body (maybe my mind) understood that it was no longer necesary to continue using the drug.
You'll get better, you'll see...

Like Teri, I too would not be alive today without this med due to the pain.
Yes, it does take the tingling away for me. And the stabbing pain. Sometimes I still get break through pain, but that's bearable. Everyone reacts different to it.

Thank you all for your responses. I am taking about 500mg a day right now. I can take up to 300mg three times a day if I need to. I want to be careful and not take anymore than I need. The 500mg. is taking alot of the pain in my leg away but not all of the tingling. I guess I'll experiment.
Thanks again,
Tirzah
