Sponsor michigani 09-14-2005, 08:24 PM Elda,
My earliest symptoms were trouble climbing stairs and trouble getting up off the ground, then eventually getting out of a chair or sofa. There are basically, two types of muscular dystrophy. "Proximal" (the center of your body) and "Distal" (fingers, toes, hands, feet). Mine is proximal, that is, I have weak thighs, stomach and shoulders. Somebody with Distal MD might have trouble turning a key or opening a jar. Another classic symptom is "foot drop". This is caused by a weak tibailis muscle (your shin). This causes much tripping and catching your toe. It also makes it impossible to stand on your heels. Please don't let any one symptom scare you! See your doctor and have some tests. Anything else, just ask. Best of luck ! Mark |
