im definately having this surgery, but wanted to know anyone that has been to either of these doctors, and their opinions about which one. why did you go to one over the other? i heard and read great things and success stories from both. only decision is which one to pick. i am sending out my records this week for both clinics to review and let me know if i am accepted. bshire

hey there booboo~
unfortunately yes you are right. i thought about sending this for a couple of minutes, before i responded as i dont want to discourage you from having yours. but yes, mine made me so bad that now i HAVE to have something done. One thing i really reccommend you do is MAKE SURE YOUR DOCTOR GIVES YOU SPECIFIC RULES AFTER YOUR SURGERY. for instance, they asked me if i knew the log roll to get up and i said, sure, ive been doing it for years since i already had a bad back. but then i realized , months after the IDET, that i wasnt really doing a true log roll, and "was using my back" each and everytime i got up  so perhaps the Idet may have worked. blah`blah, i really think my doctor SUCKED/!!!! i would never reccommend him to anyone. and hes done over 500 IDET's. scary huh? anyway, i said screw this and am going to put my self in the best hands money can buy(as far as i know) and am going to Germany to have ADR surgery. there are 2 clinics that i know of that have incredible results. DR. zeegers and dr. metz-stavenhagen are the most experienced doctors in all of europe/! since i was a disabled vet i got a chunk of change (thanks to the Lord) when i got disabled, and am going to use that to pay for surgery, 20-25,000 out of pocket. but what is money when you cant live life anymore. so i wish you all the best with yours and hope that you have a quick and successful recovery. god bless! bshire

Oh know B thats NOT good :( Well, my IDET might be put on hold, I found out Monday, due to the fact that my dr forgot to put opening presser for my L5/S1 disc on my discogram so the IME/insurance company will not let me get that level worked on so now I need to get another discogram at that level to prove to them that opening pressure was low when I had exact pain. UGH. My dr and I feel that I need to get the other level fixed first and make sure my neck is healed before I get the IDET as I'm going to need my body close to 100% inorder to be able to rehab right as I have alot of numbness and weakness in both my arm, neck, knee, leg and foot.
I totally know what you are saying about using your own $ to be able to fix yourself. I feel the same way but since my accident was MVA I have to go throught my insurance first or else it's consider fraud. UGH. I just can't seem to win, the insurance has stretched this out so far a year and 6 months and I can just feel my back getting worse. I mean it feels like it's crumbling on itself, my back just feels so unstable and constantly hurts.
I wish you the best of luck and hope that you can make the trip to Germany to get that done. Can't you get that done where you live??? I know they are the best in the world but can't you find a great dr in your area?
Do you want to hear something funny, a little different from your situation of your dr doing over 500. My PM hasn't even been trained in IDET, he was going for training on Sept 24th and then I was going to be his first patient. I was like OK because I totally love my PM but the more I thought about it I was like I DON'T want to be his first, no way. So his office was going to put me in with his partner and have my PM there for hands on training, actually not funny, pretty darn scary.
I hope it all works out for you, take care and let me know how it is going. I try to come on and read that boards every couple days or so.
Take care,
bshire

hey booboo,
please dont be his first patient. it is not a good idea, and i would find out how many the other has done. this is your body, and it is all you got till we move onto the other side.
the reason i am going to Germany is because they are the "best in the world", not one of the best, the best!! the doctor im going to has done upwards of 1000 implants in the last 10 years. it is only approved for one level in the US, but even if they did approve 2 which is very near to happening, i would still be going over seas. its my back. i want someone that has this down cold, not learning. whats money worth, when you cant live to enjoy it. i wish you well, please do your research. god bless, bshire
