for a good weight loss plan, you are going to have to eat smarter (since u will probably be eating less). you'll need to make sure you get all the nutrition u need, not just the calcium
for women, usually the amount in 3 cups of milk is recommended. thatts about 1000 mg. you should split up your calcium intake because your body can only absorb so much in one sitting and the rest will pass through if in excess. i take 500mg in the morning, 500 later in the afternoon.

what chopstix said -for a woman, the ideal amount is 1000mg per day, split up 500 morn/500eve.
