:( Hi! everyone, I am so disappointed AF showed up today on day 31 of my cycle I was hoping this was it. I had good follies and I felt like I o'd so I thought maybe it would work. I am on metformin and I took 100mg of Clomid days 5-9. The Clomid never worked for me before I had my son either. I tried it off and on for 10 years with no success. It was only after 3 cycles of glucophage and Bravelle injections w/ iui that I finally conceived. I was just praying that due to the expense of the Bravelle that the clomid would work this time. I just feel like shouting sometimes why does this have to be so difficult and such an emotional rollercoaster. If insurance would just step up and recognize that these procedures are medically nessecary for us and cover the cost of these treatments. Well guess I have complained enough. Thanks for listening just needed to vent a little.

I am so sorry to hear that. I know the pain, anger and disappointment of AF showing up...especially when it's later than normal and you get your hopes up so high! I wish this was an easier process, but we all know it's not and it doesn't seem to get any easier as time goes on. I wish you the best of luck in the coming months.

Let's me start by saying I'm so sorry about that stupid AF for showing up! We get our hopes up and then she shows!
How much was the Bravelle costing you? Has your doctor talked with you about Repronex instead? I don't know which is less, but I do beleive they are the same thing.

-it's a start

Thanks Ravae & qt314 it helps just to be able to vent sometimes. Qt314 the Bravelle cost me $51.00 per vial and I was using 2 vials in each shot. The first month I tried it I used 30 vials the next 39 vials and the next 46. The RE charged me $800.00 per cycle and the hospital for labs charged $585.00 so it was costing us around $3000.00 per cycle. The Bravelle is the only one that he mentioned I could check into the others.
Thanks again

Actually, that sounds cheaper. I use 2 vials of Repronex (150 units) a day. My cycle of this med is 9-10 days and it costs me about $750. I also use during that time Lupron 2 times a day (20 units each) and Gonal F (another type of FSH) 450 units once a day. The Gonal F is what wipes my wallet out! It's $3,900 for 10 days!!!! So I guess the Bravelle is cheaper.

You still may want to ask him about changing your protocol. And I don't mean upping the dosage. Perhaps you'll respond better to something else? Do they give you an E2 (estrodial) blood test near the end of the cycle of meds? How well are you responding? Is it possible that we can become immune to the meds after a while like some antibiotics?? hmmm

Qt314,
Right now I am only going to my local ob/gyn. He doesn't do the injectible drugs. My RE is in another county and he is the one that done my injectible drug and iui cycles. I was just doing this because of the cost if it doesn't work in a couple of months I will have to go back to my RE. The clomid cycles are only costing me around 150.00 per cycle that includes meds and one U/S. They haven't done blood work, but the last U/S showed 3 follies in right ovary and 2 in left. They put me on a no sugar low carb diet due to my insulin intolerance and said that if I would lose about 30 lbs that I would probably get pregnant just by using clomid. So far I have lost 10 I keep cheating and eating stuff I'm not supposed to have. It is so hard to not eat sugar! The Bravelle always worked really well for me. I can't remember exactly how many follies I had but it was usually around 5 or 6 I think. And when I went to my RE he did a U/S and blood test every 3 days for 10-12 days depending on follie size. On my 3rd cycle of bravelle I was doing two shots per day 2 vials in each shot. Then we were going to have to wait about 6 months to save enough money to do IVF because all 3 cycles failed. Then I thought I would diet and get in shape while I was waiting and 2 months later I got pregnant on my own. My RE said that the drugs had caused my body to start working right and thats why I got pregnant without them.
