Does anyone have any opinions or information on Jello and the use of the diet.
Is this a good snack? Does it have a lot of calories?
Or is it another junk food/candy type of food>
I have looked for information on the net and did not found much informaton.
Thank you.

look on the nutrtion label on the box. under carbs, you will see "sugar". basically, this product is just sugar, empty calories. if you decide you like to eat it, just know it doesn't provide any real nutritional value and there are better choices to satisfy a sweet tooth (fruit, yogurt, fat free pudding? at least you get nutrients/calcium from these). also, the protein is from gelatin which can't be absored by the body.
there's sugar free jello too but it uses artificial sweetners. i eat this occasinally.

Sugar-Free Jello is allowed on most diets as a quick snack. It's easy to make and tastes good. Enjoy it!

The Japanese have a gelatin made from konyaku that tastes just like Jello brand gelatin, but is good for you. Konyaku is made from the konjac root and is high in glucomannan (see: http://www.healthwell.com/Healthnotes/Supp/Glucomannan.cfm?path=hw ). Konyaku is a popular traditional food in Japan, that's very good for diets and other health concerns. The konyaku gelatin is popular too, especially among young women who love desserts but are concerned about their figures.
The only problem is that I heard you can't buy it in the U.S. because some American kid choked on it by trying to swallow it without chewing, and now Americans are paranoid that it's dangerous or something. I don't know if that story is true or not though. Konyaku gelatin is a very healthy alternative to Jello for people who know how to chew their food though. You could probably find some place online that sells it if you're interested.

Try some sugar-free jello with a dab of cool-whip on top-it's low-fat, low-cal & low-carb. You can even shred some carrots in the jello during preparation or add some chopped fruit to make it more healthy. Gelatin is good for you -makes your hair and nails strong and in some cases good for arthritis.

susiejb,
Thannk you very much for your suggestions. I never though of putting Carrots on it. What a great idea.
Also I did not know Jello helps hair and nails. And I was going to start avoiding jello. Not anymore. : )
Thaks again.

Just mix the shredded carrots in with the liquid before you refrigerate it -it's great! If you use fruit, don't use pineapple because it won't gel. People actually take gelatin as a supplement for hair and nails. Glad to have been of help! -Susie
