I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis last week and hospitalized for three days. I got home on Sunday and ever since I have been spotting a bit, not much. Here's my concern: I had sex on the 11th day of my cycle and plan to start my period on Sept 21st. I am slightly concerned that I might be pregnant even though I am on the pill. Could the spotting be caused by something other they pregnancy, like me being in the hospital and my body being messed up? Or is it probably a good chance I am pregnant?
Thanks!

It's hard to say. How about doing an at home pregnancy test.

Pregnancy Tests are not accurate until you actually miss your period. My doctor said the hormone wouldn't be there until at least next Thursday. I guess I will just have to wait and worry until then!

Kalishea - I agree with the pregnancy test. They-re not accurate until your HCG is at a high enough amount to give you a positive result (if you are pregnant).

However, you don't have to wait until your period is due to find out if you're pregnant. Go to your doctor and ask for a pregnancy blood test that MEASURES the amount of HCG in your blood. You must ask specifically for this test as the doctors usually only do the test that gives you a yes or no answer. That test is more accurate than a HPT but still leaves room for mistakes. So ask for the test that measures the amount of HCG in your blood. I wouldn't have a urine test. These are about as accurate as a HPT.

Because you're on the pill, and providing you've been taking it properly, haven't missed any medication and haven't been poorly; the chances of you conceiving while on the pill are significantly lowered but its not impossible to conceive while on the pill.

The spotting you've had, could be because of your pancreas infection, a UTI or pregnancy. I cant really say. The best thing to do is do what I said above and speak to your doctor about the spotting.

Take care and hope I've helped you some.
