I would like to figure out a why to get more B vitamins and trace minerals like zinc, selenium, and magnesium into my diet without supplements.
Brewer's yeast seems to have these elements aplenty.
Do you sprinkle it on foods? What kinds of foods would it go well on? What does it taste like? How much does a gal need?

Hello, It's bitter. You can sprinkle it on salads. It's really great for dogs. (The kind with four legs.) We used to put it into our dog's food as a flea repellant. Apparently, the oder of the brewer's yeast comes out in the dog's skin and fleas are sensitive enough to smell it. (I can't, because my nose just isn't that good.)I think you might be able to get it in tablet form, if you find you can't put up with the flavor.

My family uses brewers yeast flakes sprinkled on fresh popcorn... We use an air popper..so no oil or grease.. (although it can be used in any popcorn)..our cat goes wild wanting the brewers yeast.. but we make him wait, till we are done. he gets the leftovers..(but not the ole maids)
Also. i use it in cooking alot. I make vegetarian patties.. I use the brewers yeast as a breading meal.. you can just add some to your breadcrumbs/ and use it in recipies.. We love it.I believe it is an excellent source of v-b...?? I will ahve to put the wordinto search /recipies/by..see what i can find.

An interesting aside to the brwers yeast. My niece was put on it by her doctor to give her more energy, etc. She was a little bitty skinny gal and guess what--tall of a sudden she felt better for sure but she kept gaining weight--final story, she recently had a stomach bypass since she could not get rid of the weight.
Even after the doctor told her the brewyers yeast could very well cause the weight gain and she quit she kept gaining weight slowly over the years and no diet worked.
Was it the BYeast? She swears that it was. Anyway thats why I dont use it just in case. So if you notice a slight weight gain while using it even though you aren't changing your eating habits you may want to go off of it.
