joecaps6812 07-24-2003, 08:49 AM what is a good diet to lose belly fat or any kind of fat?? Sponsor zip2play 07-24-2003, 05:30 PM The PERFECT diet is the diet that causes you to eat 100 calories less than you burn day in and day out until the day you are at your perfect weight! Then the perfect diet becomes the diet that allows you to stay exactly at that weight. What I'm saying is that a good diet is one that is easy for YOU to stick to.....FOREVER! joecaps6812 07-24-2003, 05:32 PM i dont eat that many calories a day, always less than 2000, swim everyday, and most of the time in the morning i walk three miles Mystery_00 07-25-2003, 10:57 AM The only way to lose belly fat is a mix of diet and cardio. or to NOT diet, and eat healthy. Healthy eating habits: 5-6 small meals a day. include a protein in each meal, and a complex carb in every meal or every other. i personally, can't eat that many carbs, tends to stick right on me. carbs would be veggies, potato, brown rice, wholewheat bread or tortilla. portion size is important..about the size of your fist. also, lots of h20 exercise:do you change your routine? you should. swimming is great, but what about doing a walk/sprint routine? only about 20 minutes, 3x a week is all you would need. walk-jog then sprint for a minute, then walk to jog, then sprint..etc. add weights!! more muscle mass = higher metabolism. consistancy...keep it up! susiejb 07-28-2003, 09:51 PM I agree with you, Mystery_00. Smaller meals more often are much better for you than 3 large meals. This will keep the metabolism going throughout the day. Choose lots of veggies and fruits, whole grains, chicken, fish, very little red meat. I love to walk (it's great for the body, mind and soul) and working those muscles every other day definitely burns the fat. If I know I'll be going to a party or eating a big dinner, I will push myself to work out beforehand with my 5 & 8 lb. weights. This raises my metabolism and keeps the fat-burning process going for several hours to come. It really works! I eat a lot and still keep my weight down. Just remember -muscle burns fat. crazyabout blue 07-29-2003, 12:28 AM from what I heard....South Beach Diet CARDIO, CARDIO, CARDIO.. and firming it with some crunches (thats how my stomach got flat!!) by doing this: lie on the floor, knees bents, arms to the side.. lift your knees to ur chest, as far as u can go.. bring them back down, and repeat. I do 300 a day. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif Lost the belly in 6 days! susiejb 07-29-2003, 12:53 AM Hey, Crazy- I'm going to try your belly crunches. If I lose my belly in six day, I'm going to kiss you! Kimdoc 07-29-2003, 06:47 PM I am a firm beliver in never "dieting" and have been trying to change the way I eat since this past March. I have been doing a "modified" version of the Fat Flush Plan which is basically a detox program. I don't like some of the stuff that they want you to eat, but I have incorporated a lot of what they suggested into my new healthy eating lifestyle. You can look up the Fat Flush Plan on the net. The cran/water that they have you drink really does help you lose the belly fat. It flattened my stomach in about 2 weeks. But to be honest with you, I'm not really overweight (132lbs and 5'6). Just make sure you use pure cranberry concentrate (found in health food stores or GNC). It should have no more than like 7 or 8 grams of sugar. Let me know if you have any questions about the plan. I really love it! -Kim susiejb 07-29-2003, 07:20 PM I saw The Fat Flush Plan on Oprah a few months ago. She featured 3 women, each on a different diet plan, every week for a month, and the person who was on The Fat Flush Plan lost considerably more weight than the other 2 women. I could probably handle a modified version also. Some of these plans are just too strict to adhere to. I need a way of life eating plan, not a diet. I'll have to check that out also! -Susie crazyabout blue 07-30-2003, 01:18 AM a kiss?!?! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/bouncing.gif lol. Fat Flush Plan??? I couldnt find a reliable site about this info.. can u briefly tell me about it Kimdoc?? thanks! Mystery_00 07-30-2003, 11:07 AM i dont know much about the fad diets that are constantly popping up...whats wrong with eating healthy, 'clean' foods, small meals, 5-6 times a day as a lifestyle? throw in some cardio (interval cardio is the best. for example. walk, jog, run, sprint, walk, jog, run sprint) and weights! perfect lifestyle way of eating and living. susiejb 07-31-2003, 03:41 AM I can't handle these fad diets, either. I read about them and feel sorry for the people on them! The walking and weights do me good. Too many joint probs for the running! One of these days I'm gonna get to crazy's belly crunches (300 per day? geeeez!) Kimdoc 08-09-2003, 08:38 PM Crazyaboutblue - You can find out about the fat flush plan on ivillage.com. I first read about it in First Magazine and tried it and lost about 10 lbs. But I didn't do the full detox. I just finished reading the book and am going to try the 2 week detox and see how that works. - Kim 1nitewriter 08-14-2003, 03:11 AM Atkins, South Beach, or Body for Life will all work for getting rid of the belly fat, but all must be used in conjunction with a combination of aerobic and weight training workouts. (What worked for me was the Atkins plan--cutting carbs, using the slow burning ones only, and following the exercise program in Body for Life) Magpiezoe 08-14-2003, 09:26 AM Hello, I agree with the crunches and exercise. You might want to add leg pulls. (balance yourself on the edge of a chair, lift your feet off the floor and pull your knees up toward your chest keeping your feet off the floor when you straighten your legs out.) Also, you'll want to do some crunches for the obliques by twisting your torso when you come up. Cindy Crawford videos are great for getting into a nice sleak bod. ------------------ Magpie |
