I'm just wondering, what do herpes look like on the gums?

I'm just concerned because I have an ulcer on my gum, which grew there a week after I had sex with a girl I meet at a party (all covered sex of course).
I also noticed I have tiny little very pale white spots, near each other in a circular shape on my gum, they might be just pigmentation though because I can't feel them and they are not lumps. To be honest they might have been there for some time but I have just not noticed them, just thought I would check.

Thanks heaps

do an image search with the terms "herpes" and another with the term "fever blister". They are two different sores. The oral herpes I have seen usually are a cluster of bumps on lips. The other kind of mouth sore you can get is called fever blisters, mouth ulcers, or canker sores. I get these when I accidently bite the inside of my lip. The cause is generally not known although many suspect it is from trauma or irritation from certain ingredients in toothpaste. You are not contagious. However oral herpes is caused by a virus and can be transmitted to another person. Once you have the the herpes virus, you have it for life. The viral strain is related to genital herpes but is different. i read that you can contract oral herpes in your genital region and genital herpes in your mouth region.

Thanks it looks like I just have a canker sore from the pictures I've seen.

As for the other problem with the very pale tiny white spots near each other, I'm pretty sure they are just pigmentation of the gums.

Thank you

Sorry if this is going to scare you but syphillis can cause a canker sore or ulcer in the mouth...usually painless and white. I would get it checked out just to make sure. The symptoms ted to go away even if the STD is still present in your body.
