I have always had low blood pressure, but the last doc visit it was lower than normal. Not dangerously low, but low (sorry, can't remember the number..) I have been dealing with chronic mono for long time and was wondering if that could be a factor. Is low blood pressure bad?? I am a small woman, 21 years old. Can low blood pressure cause heart problems/pains??

Hi NatashaW,

My father has really low blood pressure. His doctor does not think it is low enuf for meds, tho. He also has alzheimers and parkinsons and is 78. His is like 80-70 over 35-45. The doctor told him to eat more salt and to try to do more and not just sit there. He gets really weak and dizzy, right after he eats a big meal. He also told him to try to eat more, smaller meals. I do not know if it causes or makes heart problems (worse). Hope this helps some. Wannabe

I have always had very low blood pressure, often 88/44. It has never been a problem for me. Unless your getting dissy, I think its ok. And actually better for your heart and body. Much less stress on your system.
