I have a lot of OCD issues. One of them is public restrooms and I absolutely hate to use them, even when it's an emergency. I usually just hold it til I come home or take a lot of precautions. Well, recently I've had this obsession with my bathroom floor. I mopped it Friday and now I can't stop looking at it. I don't think it's clean enough. I keep having these urges to get down there and scrub it really hard. I'm already making plans to do it Monday. It's getting to the point where I can't stand to go in my bathroom because all I do is stand there looking at the floor saying this isn't clean enough. Is this starting something...another OCD symptom on top of the many OCD issues I already have?

hey b,
Public bathrooms are a terror for a lot of us. And cleaning is another for some. I think once you get focused on that........the idea that it is not clean.........try telling yourself that you know it is clean. If that doesn't work...........my solution......go ahead and clean it. That way you don't sit around and obsess over it.
It's strange/funny though. Recently, I had the horrible misfortune of having to use 2 different public toilets. I was so happy when I got home.......I felt like hugging my toilet!!!!!!!!! Well, not literally, but you get the idea.
All of this is bizarre. My handwashing started naturally when I worked at a jail, touching inmates' property. When I quit there, I could pretty much keep my hand washing at home bearable. Then it got nutz, and I had to start meds.
I cannot think of anything that triggered the rise in my hand washing. It is just strange.
Hope you get better.
sobs...........donating her brain to science!!!! lol
