Here is a poem i wrote about how i felt after my daughters diagnosis, i just wanted to share it with all of you.

It wasn't mean't to be like this.

It wasn't mean't to be like this, a young girl said to me.
Things were mean't to be perfect, she had this dream you see.
The dream was very special, a man, a home and kids.
But life had different plans for me, she said and gave a sniff.
The kids they didn't come easy, they tried forever more.
But luck had seemed to pass them by
No, it didn't knock on their door.
After years of treatment, chance had come their way.
Not one baby to ease their tears
But two, Hip, Hip Hooray!
Things were very different to how she'd planned this time.
For there she sat on her own, no-one to hold her hand.
And if by chance she fell, no-one would break her fall.
This happened to her, no-one was there.
She wept behind closed doors.
This was supposed to be a happy time.
The lonliness sank in.
The friends she dreamt of, had their own groups to be in.
So all alone she struggled, not enjoying this special time.
When she began to notice, something had gone awry.
Then something dreadful happened, her life now took a dive.
She had to care in a different way
Her child did not thrive.
One was very lively, a step ahead, she said.
The other was locked in her own world, she said with fear and dread.
The process wasn't easy, the grief now took it's toll.
Why me? she often asked me.
She felt incapable.
She now felt pain and sorrow, where happy times should be.
It wasn't mean't to be like this
The reflection said back to me.
