I was dx'd with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue back in the early part of 2004, and have been seeing a Dr. Kent Holtorf for treatment since November '04. Through treatment and testing I had very positive results including the recent positive finding of biotoxins. Which he had thought was the underlying problem all along or the correct d'x. Based on my symptoms and that I improved away from my job and symptoms worsened each time I returned to work even part time.
Now, I am being treated with Questran or (Cholestrimine), mega supplements and an Alkaline diet. I feel the symptoms subsiding, the first that went was the blurred vision, and the foggie brain, the all over tissue pain (flu-like pain) has started to subside and my eyes are clearer with each passing day. It will be three weeks on Wednesday, I feel hope again!! :bouncing:

I am so happy for you and thank you for posting the info. After 3 weeks on the Cholestrimine did you experience any digestive problems? I did after about a week and after two weeks, I simply could not continue with the Cholestrimine. So I'm back to square one.
Also, did you get the Cholestrimine from a compound pharmacy? I initially bought it at the regular pharmacy but noticed that it was filled with sugar. My MD then called a compound pharmacy and I bought it there.
Please keep us posted on your treatment.
Thanks,
Lu

I was told by my doctor to start treatment w/ 1 package a day drinking it with grape juice a half hour after other meds and on an empty stomach, start an alkaline diet, and take mega Vitamin C, to slowly increase the Questran to 4 times a day.
The alkaline diet is harder to stick to than the hypoglycemic or yeast overgrowth diet for me. It's a true life change menu, (Sure can see how my whole family could benefit from it!) It makes sense, and I making changes every day. I can't afford to lose anymore weight so I am eating more whole grain brown rice then it calls for. But I have had extreme weight loss issues since the illness started and don't want to see me drop below a 100lbs.
I'm on a digestzyme and Liv 52; a liver detox, along with some herbal extracts that also helps detox and eliminate viruses and other things. With many other supps & meds. Having had IBS issues for the last 2 years, I havn't noticed any worse symptoms so far. I find that the Questran helps me to eliminate and not have as many other issues.
I currently have the prescription from the regular pharmacy. I wonder are you taking any other meds or supplements or digestive helpers?
I have only been taking it almost 2 weeks, so we'll see. To me it will be worth getting over these symptoms once and for all.
Is yours neurotoxins due to Lymes or biotoxins from sick buildings or from fish?
Do share,
thank you, uvm

Thanks for the reply.
I was not on any special diet but had been on the anti-fungal one for several years prior and continue to eat the same foods. I started out on a very low dose (followed the same directions you posted) and gradually increased the dose.
I am on thyroid meds (Armours) and noted that the Cholestrimine bound the meds so it wasn't being assimilated. So I was also very, very tired.
Doesn't the sugar in the Cholestrimine from the regular pharmacy bother you?
Again, thanks for the reply and I wish you the best with your treatment. Please keep me posted.

Lu55,
I am not sure if the sugar is bothersome, I am not feeling altogether well today. I do know that between the treatment and massage therapy (includes lymphatic massage) parts of the day I feel better and parts of the day I feel sick. I can tell when I am eliminating the toxins or when their on the move through my body.
I am heading down to see my doctor next week, the appt is on Wednesday Sept 28th, it's about a 9 hour drive so I will take 2 days going down.
After trying to find where I had read the Questran treatment protocol, I realized today that I should have stayed on my prescription Zythromaz and Diflucan. (I feel like I'm heading down the symptom track today) So I'm back taking those with everything else I'm on. I hope to check back in with me feeling better again in a couple of days.
Meanwhile, I have also contacted some environmental agencies seeking advice as to what is my next step. I truly what to help my coworkers and my self get to the bottom of our symptoms, to see if it is something within the building. I feel like I may have opened a can of worms.
But, I have the symptoms of neurotoxins, they started 2 years ago and I have been on a rollercoaster ride with medical bills up the yingyang alnog with being one of the best employees for the first 3 years with great status to being too sick to preform my job most of the time.
Lu, What is your diagnose? How long have you been ill with it? Is it neurotoxins?
write soon, uvm :bouncing:

Hello,
I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue and systemic fungal infection. My MD said I had the symptoms of neurotoxins and that he would not test me because it was expensive and my insurance would not pay for it. Who knows what I really have!
Anyway, the reason I asked about the sugar is because yeast feeds on sugar. I would think that you would want to avoid it at all costs. Besides sugar, I believe there are also chemicals in the Cholestrimine you purchased from the regular pharmacy (versus compound pharmacy). I need to avoid chemicals (my MCS is really bad). Aren't you chemically sensitive? I can't remember if you said you were or not.
I hope you're feeling better.

You propose some interesting questions, that I will ask my doctor when I go down there this week. This could be why I go up in down with nausea and sick feelings during the day. I had limited my sugar intake prior to this last dx and take Diflucan for the yeast overgrowth. I have some MCS's; I know that I can't handle cleaning fluids that I used to use around the house, when ever I do I will have a flare up, pain increases and will have major hypersensitivity symptoms, along with a constant runny nose, etc...
The tests that you refer to is it blood work to determine the type of toxin? or the tests formulated by Dr. Shoemaker?
I know what you mean, "who knows what I really have?" too! I have been trying to understand it all. Having been dx'd with FMS & CFS. Then to find I have no immune system...which has caused 5 different viruses to become chronically acute taking over my body at the blood, cellular and brain level... and now to find out I test positive for biotoxins...?? (:
I'm not sure of the whole process...however, I do know how my symptoms started and then compounded as I kept working. I can totally see how my neurological system has been affected. I have all the symptoms of neurotoxic exposure, and the pain is different, kinda all over tissue pain like my body is sick...with treatment and time off from work I get better. The last time it was almost a month of symptoms free days, then I went back to work part time and started getting sick within the first week. This is my first time taking Questran, and the herbal extracts, will see.
I ordered the book, 'Mold Warriors' by Dr Shoemaker, I believe. It has the lab test along with the Questran treatment protocol, I'm hopeful if I follow it the way it's written I may have better luck with it, and can quickly start feeling better.
I wish you the best, too. Only those that have this can truly understand what it's like to go through. My husband struggles with understanding it, are you married? How does your family cope with it? uvm

UVM,
How are you faring? What protocol are you presently using?
I have experimented w/ several, to no avail. The only thing that really helps are the B-12 shots and glutathione.
Let us know how you are.

Hope you are feeling better. I have been diagnosed with high levels of toxic mold mycotoxins in my blood. The tests cost $600. Regular MD knows nothing about mold and apparently I was exposed for about 11 years unknowingly. We had recent mold remediation for over $30,000 and no money is left. I can't go to the holistic doc anymore because of the cost - he did the tests. He said my levels are so high I am at risk for liver and kidney cancer and thinks the mold was the cause of my breast cancer, Crohn's disease, gastritis, bad immune system, fibromygelia, hyperactive thyroid, allergies, eczema and on and on. He wanted me to take cholestrymine but a side effect is brittle bones and I already have severe osteoporosis. He then wanted me to take intravenous Vit C and minerals but I only have one arm to work with (mastectomy - no blood work, IV, blood pressure on that arm) the veins are pretty scarred from taking blood, IVs, etc. and he made me sign a waiver that I could get a blood clot from the procedure and it is $80 a pop not covered by insurance. So here I am living with my mold mycotoxins in me wondering what I will get next. I now have hives and wonder if that is because of the mold. If anyone knows how to get detoxed without herbs (allergies) please let me know.
