Hello,
I've been getting migraines/pressure headaches for a couple of months now.
I haven't had great experience with Imitrex tablets and the neurologist I saw wanted to put me on Topamax, which I will not do.

Has anyone had better luck with the inhaled version of Imitrex vs. the tablets? I have an appt. with a different neurologist in a few weeks, so hopefully he will suggest something other than Topamax.

Imitrex didn't work for me either. I take Relpax and it works great. I've also taken Frova, Maxalt and Amerge and they all worked better than Imitrex.

I agree about not taking Topamax...I've read terrible things about it. I wouldn't take it either if my doctor suggested it.

Hi, I took Imitrex for the first time this morning (I get classic migraines), and as soon as I saw the flashing lights, I took one 50 mg. I was amazed after 30 minutes when the flashing lights had disappeared and that was it!!! No more symptoms, no sensitivity to lights, noise didn't bother me, I was shocked, I found it excellent. I've never heard of the spray, is that supposed to work faster? I guess everyone responds differently, Im sorry you didn't find relief. You're right about not taking Topamax, I've heard terrible stories about that stuff. Let us know if you find something that works.

The inhaled form was originally provided for people who have nausea and vomit with the migraine. Suprisingly, yesterday I used the nasal spray form for a nasty headache and it did help better for me than the tablets. I am hoping now that the headache will not return...I am seeing a different neurologist tomorrow and hope that he has a magic cure. All I need is a good rescue remedy for my once a month or more migraines.

I do not take Imitrex however, I do use the Zomig nasal sprays instead of the tabs when I am *away from home*.
I do find that the sprays work much faster(3-5 minutes) & there are no side effects like the tabs-drowsyness & dry mouth.

Zomig also comes in oral tabs which you do not need water as they absorb on the tongue. They taste something like sweet oranges. I use these for *home* use.
