I have been taking 60 mgs of percocet a day for about a year and a half for chronic back pain. Because i feel like the pill is controlling my life I am going to stop but cannot even imagine how bad withdraw would be. My pcd has referred me to an addictive medicine doctor who uses this drug any one ever heard of it or had any experience.
suboxone

buprenophine

Hi Steve,
I come to this board because of my sons opiad addiction, so the only thing I can tell you is I went with him once to look into suboxone. From what I learned it is the new alternative to methadone, prescribed monthly by a doctor and then they help you to come off it when they feel you are ready, as opposed to methadone, which from what I hear is much harder to come off of. I thought it sounded really good, as opposed to taking the drugs and it sounds like it helps you to get a good start on living your life normally again before you are ready to come off it. I would go to the appointment and get more info from a doctor who prescribes it. Just as any medication, there are people who have good experiences on it, and others who don't. They would not put my son on it because he hasn't taken the other steps to help himself yet and felt he was just looking for the easy way out. It may be an option for him in the future once he goes through rehab, once again, and hopefully comes out and wants to work the program.

Good luck

The first time my son went into detox. he was into full blown withdrawals from heroin. He was probably a good 7 hours into it and he thought he was going to die. We left him and went home and he called a few hours later sounding like a different person. They put him on suboxone to detox and within hours he felt like a different person. The problem was, they had him on it for 5 days, then sent him home with nothing. 3 days later the suboxone was our of his system and he was withdrawing from that and ended up right back to using. they didn't warn him this was going to happen, just sent him home on nothing. Just be sure if you go on it that you are going to taken off it properly and watched.

Hope this has been some help to you.
