OK, awkward question now.

I have noticed over the past several months, there have been a couple
times where I'll have some discomofort around my rectum. Not really
painful, but if I try to go to the bathroom or something, it feels
almost like I've got a pimple or something. I know this sounds gross,
but I looked with a mirror and nothing really looks weird. It looks
like maybe a tiny pimple or a very small bulge in the skin. It never
lasts more than a few days and never hurts too much. I was just at my
doctor for a yearly physical and she ran all the normal tests and
nothing was wrong. Could this just be hemorrhoids? Should I be
worried?

Thanks for the response! Yes, it actually 'the roids' as you called it :)

So, thats fine, but my doctor says there's nothing really to make it feel better. She told me to watch my diet, but thats about it. Did you find anything that made it feel better when you had them? Like I said, it doesn't hurt, but its not exactly the most comfortable situation either!

Thanks again for responding :)

Its such a horrible topic, isn't it?? :)

Well, as for the doctor, this is not a favorite doctor of mine, I was referred to her through my HMO - don't you just love HMOs?? :) Needless to say, I was not impressed.

I was a little irritated about the diet thing, because I do have a healthy diet as it is. I could probably stand to lose about 20 pounds, but I've always been that overweight and it's never caused this problem before. I think, and the doc kind of shook her head, is that I have always had a sensitive stomach, and a lot of food upsets it, and I think maybe all the upset stomachs caused this. So, I have always watched my diet a little to try to prevent from getting the stomach problems.

Like I said, it's not a big problem, it only happens every couple months or so. I think I've heard they have preparation H suppositories you can buy over the counter. Maybe I will try that next time. I guess my main concern is that its ok to use just that. Can hemorrhoids cause any problems later down the line?

And just an FYI - I have a friend who actually did have the surgery, and you're right, i think its an awful surgery to have. It took her forever to recover!!
