Like Archie told Edith on "All in the Family". "Hurry up Edith, change.....I'm waiting, go ahead.....change!!!" How long does this change take from "peri to meno to post". Do we ever feel better about ourselves, and if and when we do, will it be too late to enjoy??? Sonia

I'd like to know the answer to that too, but I really can't pinpoint when I started peri, so I wouldn't even be able to count. Official menopause is one year after your last period, if that helps at all.

Well, here's a strange one then ... I had not had a period for two years and two months and then, on September 1st, I began a period that lasted the usual amount of time and was normal in every respect. What's up with that? I am approaching my 54th birthday. Anyone else have this happen to them after such a long time?

That is the question of the day, week, month, year, and life time. I used to say that I couldn't wait to go thru my "Change", just to be done with the awful periods. Boy to have this over, I would GLADLY have awful periods for the rest of my life. This STINKS. Hot flashes for 11 years, mood swings....all my life! I am a woman, we have them! I keep hearing that it will end soon!!!! hahahahaahah, when is soon.
Laumag..................... I also did not have a period for 2 years, and in Sept. I started bleeding. My Dr. sent me straight to an OB GYN and I had to have a Uterine biopsy. Came out Neg  Apparently they frown upon bleeding after one year. You might want to talk to your Dr. about it.
Take care.
