The definate healhiest cereals come from Trader Joes. They are a health-concious, somewhat organic store popping up all over. I have ibs and the cereals help me completely. They have soy, flax, high fiber (10 grams) about 10 grams of proteins, low sodium, added vitamins and everything you need etc. They food is all 100% naturral, nothing artificial at all and no preservitives. All of their cereals are very beneficial and are only about $2.50 per box! With skim milk, they will keep you going all day. Check out traderjoes.com to see if there is one in your area. Wild Oats is also good, and Whole Foods Market, but much more expensive.

Personally, I think the healthiest breakfast in the world is oatmeal. I know that some people don't like it but I love it! I have oatmeal made with skim milk and I add flaxseed meal and blueberries. It's my absolute favorite.

Canuck,
Have you tried the old fasioned REALLY unprocessed oats that take 45 minutes cooking. Now THAT is a sublime oatmeal but very time consuming...stir,stir, stir.
Worth it though.
I personally best like a mixture of 1/2 Farina (Cream of Wheat) and 1/2 Wheatena cooked (about 5 minutes) with half milk/half water with added raisins. Serve topped off with clover honey.

I love all those cereals mentioned and then some, Trader Joes has excellent cereal choices to, I do have to look for high calcium content and 10% is nothing, Total is the only one with 100%. I eat all kinds of cereals as I love that particular meal, lost alot of weight on a cereal diet.

you can fortify yourself with a multivitamin rather than worry about the fortification in the cereal.
in my opinion the two healthiest (available) day starters are (1) All-Bran with Extra Fiber in soy milk and (2) oatmeal.
there are various reasons for this, and it also depends on your specific goals, but i have a little of both every morning. there are different ways to tackle the morning, but i really think that this is a very healthy way to go.
