Hi,
I don't post here very often, but I think I should.
I have chronic anorexia, so have rituals around food, but no others. The thing that bothers me the most is vague rhythms, or nonsense syllables (but always the same ones). They frighten me, and I can't make them stop.
Sometimes, I can hardly concentrate or even read because they are so persistant. At the same time, I feel as though they are making me so afraid that I have to struggle often to overcome the fear enough to do simple things like shower and take out the garbage, or even sometimes make the bed.
I also have agoraphobia and panic disorder, and an enormous anxiety problem.
Anyone else have anything like this, and what can I do to help myself?
I am on Prozac 60 mg, and Wellbutrin 150 a day.
Thanks very much for any help, I suffer a lot with this symptom.

Could be. Anorexia is an Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Disorder (OCSD), so I wouldn't be surprised if you had OCD as well. I have trouble reading, as well, b/c I just have songs stuck in my head all day long. Oh, and bkm, I'm still getting the rhythms even though I'm on 250 mg of Zoloft- needless to say, I'm switching my meds very soon! ;)

bkm- No, I don't, unfortunately. Already tried Lexapro, which is what my mom's on, and just starting yesterday, my grandfather, my mom's dad, but it sucked for me. Guess b/c I don't have depression, and Lexapro isn't officially approved for the treatment of OCD and anxiety, but they thought it might work for me b/c I have half my mother's genes and it works spectacularly for her. Made me more anxious and depressed than before I took it. I'm highly against taking an atypical anti-psychotic b/c they cause weight gain and diabetes, which, as someone who is deathly afraid of heart disease, isn't desireable... I'm also afraid of Paxil b/c I've heard a lot of bad things about it, including hallucinations. Maybe I'm just a hopeless case- sure feels that way sometimes. :(

Well, I either have a tentative appointment with the school psychiatrist today, but if I can't be scheduled in, I'll definitely meet with him on the seventh, so we'll see...
