Hi everyone, I just bought a scale to measure my food and am confused. I think we are supposed to eat 3-4 oz serving sizes (Ex. chicken, fish,etc..) but are we supposed to weigh the food before or after we cook it?
Thanks everyone!!

Hello, I always assumed it was after you cook it. If you do weight the meat before you cook it, make sure you put some plastic over the scale so you don't contaminate it. I just use the palm of my hand to tell a single serving size.

The difference is not usually much so if you're just going on portion size I don't think it will matter, it does matter, though, if you are counting calories.

Hello, Portion size doesn matter if you are counting cals. If you eat 2 servings, because you couldn't figure out the portion size, then you are eating double your cals. As far as cooked or uncooked...Some meats do srivel up when cooked. If you're really worried, then do a science experiment...Take a piece of raw meat and weight it out to 3 oz., which is considered a single serving. Now, cook it and re-weigh it. That way you can see if there really is a big difference in the weight.
