I have been on Lipitor for 2 weeks and have been getting really severe headaches and also dizziness. I spoke to my GP who has told me to stop taking if for 1 week to see if the headaches go away. He claims if they don't disappear in that time then it can't be the drug causing it. Will the headaches go away in a week? And how long does it take for the drug to get out of your system?

I am not sure how long it takes to leave your system. That is one drug I will refuse to ever take in my life. It caused arthritis in my shoulder and it will be there forever. Guess I was lucky, it could have been worse.

I read somewhere it took eight weeks for it to leave the system of a mouse. Now if I only knew what a mouse week is in human terms--eight months? eight years? :)

I'm beginning to wonder which carries more insidious, long-term health effects.... statins or 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-para-dioxin!!
