i dont knnow why, but for the past 4 years i have been suffering from extremely low enerergy/motivation and my food cravings are completely out of control as well as my sleep patterns. i never have any evergy to do anything, sometimes not even basic things like taking a shower or even egtting out of bed. i'm always tired and groggy. i have no motivation. i crave food like no other. i cannot stop these intense, out of control cravings--they do not go away! even if i am stuffed from eating a huge meal, i still crave more food! it used to be sweets like cookies and milk, pastries, bagels, etc. but lately it's been salty foods. i admit, i do not have a very balanced diet besides carbs, sweets, and occassional protein. i just want to be normal and have enerrgy and not always think of food! it is starting to ruin my life. i am normal weight but im worried of what im doing to my health. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The way you describe it - even confessing that your diet is unbalanced - makes me think that this is the root cause of your problems.

A balanced diet is extremely important for overall health and without it you're going to keep suffering.

So use a tool like fitday.com to help you balance out your diet. It's free and it will tell you everything you need to know.

You're going to want to eat about 50-60% carbs, 20-30% protein and 20-30% fats. And try keep those fats as unsaturated as possible.

Also, drink more water. at least 8 glasses a day and more if you can.

I'm not sure this is a nutrition problem so much as a medical condition, although that may very well be a contributing factor. If you have trouble even getting out of bed, there are probably greater issues at work than just an imbalanced diet. What Rogue suggested is a good start, and you also need to force yourself to sleep on a schedule (and enough). That may resolve at least some of the issues you face.

Craving salt is a symptom of an adrenal problem. The lack of motivation and sluggishness are also symptoms of low adrenal function. You might want to look into this as it can be easily remedied with hormones. You can look up Dr.Rind, he has a site that explains low adrenal function very well. Good Luck.
