Once a week, I sit down at the kitchen table with a huge bag of cookies or a hot fudge sundae and read the diet page in womans world. I tear it out and put it on the fridge,go food shopping for it, then I mentally prepare myself to start the diet the next day. Needless to say, I havent lasted a week yet on any of them..I did weight watchers, I have richard simmons foodmover,Atkins book,
Scarsdale( which over the years I have lost some weight)South beach, and a box full of fad diets printed out from the internet. I beg of anyone on this board to give me a new, yummy dietplan that has worked for them and not the ones i have mentioned.Has the three day heart diet worked for anyone? I liked the icecream part of that one!!!LOL.I would love to fill my fridge with diet food for once, that will not go bad at the end of the week, because I didnt eat it.Thanks for any input.Oh, I need to lose 50pounds.

Chronic dieting and flip-flopping from one fad or restrictive diet to another might be interpreted as an eating disorder.

Try to keep things simple:

First of all throw all of the sugar, artificial sugared and processed 'foods', cookies, ice cream, refined carb foods in the garbage where it belongs.

Second, buy in the following produce: fresh cuts of lean beef, turkey and chicken breast, salmon, tuna, trout. Eggs/egg substitutes. Nuts and legumes. Fresh green vegetables (e.g., spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.). Fruit, especially fresh berries. In moderation you can add some low fat cheese, low fat milk, yogurt (plain unflavored), certain whole grain products (but avoid any sugared cereals). Keep saturated fat below about 5% of total caloric intake.

Avoid products which contain hydrogenated/semi-hydrogenated oils/fats. Avoid fad diet pills - even proven diet aids are useless unless your nutrition plan is clean and your exercise regimen is in sync with your body.

NO cheat foods. DO NOT STARVE yourself.

Good supplementation includes a whey protein (for shakes), a good multi-vitamin (a must), calcium supplement. EFA oils such as Flax Seed Oil, fish oil, or Udo's Blend. Extra Virgin Olive Oil. These oils are far MORE good for you than the current CLA fad.

Aerobic Exercise (3-4 times a week, work your way up to 45 minutes a day - jogging, brisk walking, swimming, cycling, etc.).

Strength Training (3-4 times a week - target all main muscle groups in rotation - allow for adequate rest of at least 48 hours).

Sleep - 8-9 hours a day. No compromise here.

Exposure to natural daylight - at least an hour a day (protect with sun-screen when necessary).

Drink clean fresh water - a gallon a day (more on exercise days).

Put these together -

GOOD GLEAN NUTRITION
AEROBIC EXERCISE
STRENGTH TRAINING
CLEAN AIR, WATER, DAYLIGHT
CORRECT SUPPLEMENTATION

… and that 50 pounds won't stand a chance.

There are LOADs of "yummy" diets out there.
But try to stay away from fad diets they don't work and if they do they're not permanent.

The best, and most yummy, diet?
One that you make up yourself.

The trick to losing weight is consuming less calories than you burn. The calories you consume should be well balanced (about 50% carbs, 30% protein and 20% fats) but what foods you eat to make up those ratios is up to you.

Use this site: http://www.nat.uiuc.edu/energy/daily.html
to calculate how many calories you burn a day and then try to eat about 500 less.

Then use something like www.fitday.com (http://www.fitday.com) to journal and calculate your daily calorie intake.

The only problem I can see is the foods you seem to consider as "yummy". From your post I would have to assume you pretty much want to eat sweet things and lose weight. Well you can't, but you can have a sweet thing a day - you don't have to cut them out completely - as long as you figure it into your daily calorie intake.

"try to find something appealing about veggies"

This is true for many people but there are ways to eat fruits and veggies without "suffering".

Firstly, consider the fact that most fruits are quite sweet and actually taste pretty damn good. If you stop associating them with your mother forcing them down your throat you will see that a piece of fruit can be as yummy as a bag of sweets.

Now for the veggies ....
There must be at least one vegetable that you do like, start with that one and work your way up.

If you shop and cook for yourself then try buying the sweeter vegetables at first. Frozen vegetables like corn kernels and peas come in sweet and juicy varieties and there really are very tasty.

Then move on to the vegetables you really don't like. Give them a try, as we get older our tastes change and you may find that you like something you didn't before.

And disguise the taste if you have to. A well placed piece of low-fat cheese over brussel sprouts/broccoli/cauliflower while it's cooking in the microwave can do wonders.

"Thanks for the advise! I shall put my mind into diet mode...."

Try not to think of it as a diet but as a way of life, as part of what you do to be healthy.

The 90/10 Weight loss plan might be good for you. This plan encourages healthy eating and sets you up on a good foods plan based on nutrition and calories. This is for 90% of the diet. The other 10% is a fun foods plan. You can have a candy bar, a few oreos or a small fast food french fries during the day. It allows you to not exclude yummy foods from your diet. It actually encourages them, but also encourages moderation which is the true key to success. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
