Meet the robot for 3 hours yesterday. Doctor said the surgery went well, very little blood loss. We need to wait for the pathology report for a final verdict. The nurses were so nice. The criteria for me leaving the hospital today was passing gas, this is harder than you think with your digestive system wacky. My stomach feels like I am caring a ballon of air in it, that does not want to go to the intestings. No pain pills yet, and it looks like there will be few scares. The staples and cath are a real pain. I will let you know what the numbers are going in and out when I find out more.

Welcome home!! Sounds like things went well for you. Walk around as much as your body will let you. Add a few extra steps each time you are up. This will help you meet the road to recovery. Any questions you might have let us know. This message board was a life saver for me on tips for different things. Good luck and I pray you pathology report will be a good one. It took us about 5 days to receive my husbands.

The biggest problem right now is air in abdominal area. Did they pump air into me or what? I have never had a belly before and it looks like I am pregnant. This puts pressure on the staples. I am walking trying to get the digestive system back in order. You guys that go with the regular RP are brave!!!! I have had two pain pills total!

I didn't have the robot or LRRP but I think they do pump air in there to open things up and give them a little room to work around.
I lived with Mr. Foley for almost 6 total weeks - trust me you'll get used to it.
Hope the important stuff goes OK.

How are things going now? Yes, they do fill you with some air. This gives them more room to work and a better view of things they want to see. My husband felt the same way you are, but the more he moved around, then that is when he started getting the digestive tract active. It just takes some time to get things going again. We noted each day with some sort of improvement. He did not have any staples with his robot surgery, though. I guess all surgeons have their own method. Be sure to drink at least 8 eight ounce cups of water a day. Are you also taking any stool softeners during this time? Are you taking an antibotic? My husband was on the antibotic until the cath was removed 15 days later and then 3 days following that.
The hard part is over now. How do you feel now that the surgery is behind you?
Take it a day at a time for now. Remember you have been through a major surgery. Be easy with your body and give it time to heal.
My prayers

Final results are in. Dr. said it’s as good as it gets. Tumor Size - .5 cm on right, .8 cm on left. Final Gleason 3+3, Extent of Invasion - Tumor is confined to prostate with bilateral disease. Extraprostrate extension is absent, seminal vertical invasion is absent
Margins – Apex margin is uninvolved, bladder neck margin uninvolved, circumferential margin uninvolved. Vascular Invasion - absent, perinerual invasion – present
Staples gone, cath gone. So far no major leaks but I am using my wife’s pads just in case. This robotic surgery has been a piece of cake. Now I can concentrate on the real problem that we have in our family which is a 13 year old daughter with Leukemia whom is in the roughest part of her 134 week treatment.
Thank You all

I know you are glad the cath is gone. One less thing for you to deal with at this point in your life. You also received some good news with the path report.
This is a slow process with the healing involved so take care of yourself and allow the body to heal. As we have been told think weeks and months, not days.
Good luck to you and your family and keep us posted
