Last September I had surgery on my right foot to repair my torn tibial tendon. The Dr. repaired the tendon and also did an achiles lengthening and a calcaneal osteotomy.
I remember him telling me that it'd be a year before I was truly "back to normal". Well.. it's been a year, and normal I am not. My foot hurts in the back where the screws are and my ankle and right below (tibial tendon area) is extremely painful. The screws are bothering me more than the ankle pain right now. When I walk for even 10-15 minutes though, both spots (heal and ankle area) give me a lot of trouble.
Now my left foot is also in a lot of pain. Tibial tendon area :(
I went to a new Dr. and he recommended a triple arthrodesis on both feet :(
I've already done the x-rays and I see that my foot is really not how it's supposed to be.
I'm just really worried about recovery etc. What to expect. The doctor is saying that my recovery will be a lot similar to my last surgery. Fusion just seems like it's going to be so painful.
So I'd like to know from those who have had the surgery done before what I should expect.
How many days where you in the hospital?
How long where you NWB?
What type of medication did you have to take?
How did you "surgery proof" your home to make your life easier?
How much physical therapy did you do?
How long before you went back to work?
When did you start to feel better?
If you had both feet done, how long in between times?
How different is your life with less mobility?
Was it worth it to you?
Thank you so much for your help!
Sorry so long!
